Hey, so remember back on October 7 when we did the second day of our “30 Days of Jay” feature? (That would be, for those not in the know, the daily gentle mockery of Kenny Hulshof’s last-ditch campaign effort. Today’s installment, by the way, is so worthless as to not merit our attention — though I guess I never knew that Jay Nixon supported “abortion on demand.” What next? Abortion drive-thrus?) On that particular day, we shone our spotlight on a gentleman named Ron Toalson, who complained that Jay Nixon had not properly handled his (Ron’s) divorce case properly, or something. It was slightly confusing. Well, Ron finally got in touch with us to share his side. Man, did he ever.
Emails to us, comments on multiples posts, vague bullying insults… whatever it takes. A sampling, all sic:
If you would like to discuss this in person I am available. Otherwise keep your guesswork to yourself. This man failed to do his job and is a disgrace to our state…
Call this divorced guy and get the real story…
I doubt I will hear from you because you only believe what you are told to believe by your bosses, try to do some research before you post something that makes you look stupid…
Get off your butt and do some research. It is all in the public record for you to read. If you are to lazy to look for it I will be happy to send it all to you.
And from his email:
I was just relating a story that has effected me and my daughter tremendesly… If you have the guts to meet I am always available and I can supply you with the facts and truth about this matter.
Um.
Sorry, Ron. We actually weren’t out to examine the case in great detail. Our basic M.O. is thus: Find news item. Make jokes. Bask in self-congratulatory glow. We apologize if we offended you.
BUT: we really are interested in fairness. So Ron, we promise you this: if you send us a detailed version of your side (and it could even just be a cohesive assemblage of your comments and emails to us), we will publish it in full. Because we respect your decision to support anyone-but-Jay due to this incident, we will devote an entire, unedited post to your side. It’s our vow to you. Here’s hoping we can salvage this budding friendship.
