From BlogKC: Anti-abortion activists are canvassing the Brookside area, taking note of homes with Barack Obama signs posted in their yards, and following up with threatening letters to residents about how a vote for any pro-choice candidate is a vote for your soul spending eternity in that brimstone fondue the Devil be cookin’ up.
The 44th District’s State Representative-elect, Democrat Jason Kander (who was EVERYWHERE in Waldo and Brookside during the primaries…if you had a flat tire around that time, he’d likely have been there with a tire jack ready to help) has been sounding the warning about this harassment. Here’s the text of the letter folks have received:
Having seen firsthand many of the Pro-Life movement’s tactics over the years, this is not surprising. I’ve seen similar fliers placed under windshield wipers during church services while parish priests say, “Tsk, tsk, we certainly don’t condone THAT sort of thing, wink-wink, nudge-nudge…” Regardless of which side of this debate you fall on, you have to agree that this behavior has no place in our communities.
And just a random observation: what is it about crazy extremists and their inability to spell correctly or use proper punctuation in their letters?
If YOU vote for a ploitician who is Pro/Choice, YOU would be an accomplice to murdering unborn babies [emphases ours]
Seriously, do they think they HAVE to write like that? Did they take a correspondence course called “How to Write Hate Mail That Gets Noticed?”
And again, where is the logic in the argument? By this reasoning, if YOU voted for Bush, YOU are responsible for human rights violations at Guantanamo, thousands of dead Iraqis and U.S. soldiers, a staggering national debt…we can play this silly game all night, people. Any vote for a candidate should be about more than a single issue. Such narrow-mindedness serves no one but punishes many.
