If you’ve been following this site for the past three weeks, you know that we’ve taken a shine to 30 Days of Jay, the halfhearted campaign tool constructed by the Hulshof campaign to showcase the myriad ways Jay Nixon has negatively affected the lives of ordinary Missourians. Most of the stories are dull, but one stood out: the story of Ron Toalson, indignant ex-husband and angry voter. Ron was not pleased we made jokes at his expense, and he told us so. We told Ron we’d gladly print his side of the story, unedited. He declined. But now he has changed his mind, and we are happy to present an opposing voice to our ha-ha-aren’t-we-clever political posts. After the jump, Ron’s message to us and to the voters of Missouri. In the interest of a resurgent Fairness Doctrine, we urge you to read it.
We’d also like to say up front that Ron has been, after his initial outpouring of comments, just totally nice and decent and understanding about this whole thing, and we appreciate it. (Though we’ll admit we’re confused by his fixation with our not owning a fax machine.) He even offered to meet us for a beer the next time he’s in KC, an offer we will gladly accept. Here now is Ron Toalson’s side, unedited and uncut:
Alright I guess it would be great if you posted this message and the previous one, to you since you didn’t even try to get Jay Nixon’s side of the story. To be brief, you refuse to look into the matter. You state that you have no fax machine to get the information I have offered you, so without a leg to stand on you belittle people who have a legitimate gripe with someone who wants to run our state. I can understand your complaints about some of the stories on 30 days of Jay. But don’t you think you could spend some time looking into the facts before you blow someone off. Look, Jay Nixon can’t look me in the eye and say he did his job. If he is willing to meet me I would be happy to do so. In my opinion he is worthless, just like most politicians running for office. Honesty is not a prerequisite for office anymore. It boils down to who has the most money and the most crooked friends backing him. Look at his record and see who he goes after in back child support, I have found him going after men and businesses who don’t or won’t hold back money but not one instance of going after a woman who owed back child support. I am sure that there is at least on woman in this state that owes back child support. This shows a blatant bias towards women. Just as the courts of Missouri have awarded custody to women over 90% of the time, while the law says there is no consideration given as to the sex of the custodial parent. So in my opinion he chooses his battles based on gender and political ties and not the law. So all my fellow law abiding citizens of Missouri I hope you vote for an honest and decent person in Kenny. Don’t let this corrupt, gutless wonder take over our state.
And the previous message of which Ron spoke:
I am really suprised that you would print something like you did without looking into the facts of this case. I have every letter from Judge Hamlett appointing the Attorney General as special prosecutor in this case. If there were no proof of a felony why would a judge appoint 3 prosecutors to this case only to have it die without anyone ever doing an investigation. Now I am not a Rebublican or Democrat. I vote for the best person. I was just relating a story that has effected me and my daughter tremendesly. I would hope that this would never happen to anyone but it does, day in and day out. I spent many hours providing proof to the judge and not one of the prosecuting attorney’s turned it down on merit but only by having a relationship with the accused. It is a sad day when law abiding citizens can’t get help from the people who are paid and elected to serve us. If you have the guts to meet I am always available and I can supply you with the facts and truth about this matter. I have had my daughter, my money and my life destroyed by lies and I am just trying to get the truth out there.
So there you have it. Ron may disagree with us politically, but we share his exhaustion with the turn politics has taken toward the corrupting influence of money and connections. Consider us on the same side on this one, Ron. Best wishes, sir.
