(Yes, we’re back.)
This is a strange town.
There exist vast disparities in wealth, with decaying two-stories just blocks from sprawling art-deco manses. Urban intellectual epicenters commingle with outer suburbs stocked with dullards. Barbecue mixes uneasily with bioscience. And when the city seems to degrade, ever westward the course of Kansas City tracks.
So what does the city need? Why, insightful, robust, wide-ranging, and well-reasoned discussion about the present condition of Kansas City, of course. To that end, we bring you State of the Line. We come not to impugn Kansas City, but to elevate it. Well, maybe a little impugning. I mean, have you been to Olathe?
