Two things would have very simply helped the American people a great deal and we're not going to get either one.

First, we should have had the single-payer option. There are 1300 insurance companies in the US, folks, and each one has their own screwed up form we have to fill out. If they government had stepped in and created just one allowed form, the cost savings estimate is $350 billion per year. That would have paid for the health care reform by itself so no one should say it's too expensive to do.

The second thing we should have had---but again, will not get--is the public health option for health insurance. The government needed to step in to say, yes, we will offer a health insurance alternative to the private insurance industry as a way to keep costs down. It's done--very successfully--throughout Europe and the world and the private insurance companies still survive. We're just getting screwed by these greedheads, that's all.
